Write a Check 2013

WAC2013
Friday, January 31, 2014
Dear families,

Many years ago, we honored the work of Mercedes de Martinez by writing a check

to FANA. This evolved into our yearly membership campaign where we asked each

of you who have adopted a child through FANA to donate a minimum of $100 for

your yearly membership.

Well, it’s that time again! Here is a list of the many opportunities your family may

have when you are an active member:

• Scholarship opportunities for your children

• Special events for your children such as the Halloween Party and others

• Educational events for parents, including on Wednesday, October 16

How to Deal with ADHD and Behavioral Issues presented by David

Meichenbaum, Ph.D from Summit Educational Resources. This seminar

would be helpful to parents of any child with behavioral issues regardless

of diagnosis however. RSVP to Patricia Jones at 716.830.0899 or

pajtherapy@yahoo.com.

• Spanish Camp is offered at a ridiculously low expense to FANA families!

• The annual FANA picnic expenses are subsidized so that all members are

able to attend

• Access to the website and online newsletters regarding Families of FANA and

FANA in Bogota

• Teen events for your kids

• Seminars on college planning for your children

• The satisfaction of knowing you are doing the right thing for your children

and the children who do not have parents

• Donating the proceeds to a worthy cause at FANA and many local children’s

charities

This past year we have struggled mightily. As the adoption process evolving in

Colombia, fewer children have been offered to our waiting families and that makes

us all sad. But, we are here as a group not only to support our waiting families but

also to ensure that the FANA program in Bogota is there for the children who are

at risk. There are over 100 children living at FANA while they wait and wait for

their adoption status to be legalized. Once they are determined to be adoptable, the

child must first be offered to a Colombian family either in Colombia or outside of the

country. And so our families wait. But so do the CHILDREN! Whether there are 5

children or 100 children, FANA has fixed expenses, including food and daily needs

for the children, staffing, facility maintenance and medical requirements to name

just a few. Our goal has always been to maintain the facility for the children who are

so vulnerable and for the opportunity of our own children having their first home to

go back to one day.

Please do your part, for your kids here and for all of our children who wait at FANA.

I am asking you to complete your donations on-line as this streamlines the process

for all. I want you all to have a receipt and thank you letter in a timely fashion and

this makes it possible all the while ensuring that your donation is made in a secure

fashion. If your directory information does not need to be changed, then you need

only to complete the donation. Should you require changes such as phone, address,

etc to your contact information you can either complete the form attached and email

it to me or you can go in using your username and password and make the changes

to your information.

Families who donate through a payroll deduction plan at work need to email me the

source and amount so that we may budget for FANA in the coming year.

Our golf tournament was a magnificent event and we are so grateful for all of your

work and participation but we need to make up some of the difference in this year’s

proceeds. Please do your part and help us maintain our organization for you kids

and for FANA’s kids.

Kind regards to all of you,

Jerri and Annie
